DJ utrustning

Gear hypes

The (Apple style) hype of the autumn was about Pioneer CDJ-2000 and it is not anymore... It was just a updated CDJ-1000MK3 with midi and usbports. But its too expensive and will do nothing more then Traktor Pro and a cheap controller.

Next thing is all about the new Allen & Heath xone:dx, it's some kind of controller for Digital DJ:s that (probably) will be relesed at BPM in Birmingham. But I know nothing more at the moment.
Just this bad picture...

Update!
Now it's released an it was for ITCH... (but of course you can map it for Traktor Pro) and will set you back 1200 euro... Well you can get a lot of stuff for that kind of money that will do a whole lot more...
Now the hype is for the Native Instrument controller, as seen on youtube.

5 hour set with Traktor Pro

It just worked...
I was playing on a wedding with some cupoints and persian music from a USB memory.
The cupoints was to make Righteous Brothers - Unchained Melody to crash and start Michael Jackson - Thriller Dance after that go to "Time of our Lives" from Dirty Dancing.
Hopefully I get the real video from the wedding...

I also had a intresting talk to a guy that plays on clubs i Tokyo. He was a friend to the weddingcouple and was asked to play, but it´s not the same to run tracks on a weddingparty. He was using vinyl, but now he´s on Serato. I understand, travelling round the globe with a big box of vinyls can´t be fun.

Traktor Pro worked perfectly for the whole set. One thing that I need when using loops and FX is a monitor, my earphones is not enough :) - plus - I wan´t 4 decks now, loops are fun!

Party diary

2 weeks ago I played a birthdayparty and this weekend a wedding!

I play everything from Frank Sinatra to The Killers on this parties, so the trick to make it work is to play the right track at the right time. The bride asked for 80´s music and I was not late to reply... Depeche Mode, New Order and Erasure made the crowd go wild!

To DJ with the laptop vs. Vinyl/CD is like "same same but different" you always need to select the right tune to play, the computer can´t do that for you, but its always a matter of how you organise of tracks!
Technically it is more differences, since the program makes everything stay in sync and give a great visual overview of the track it leave the DJ room to be more creative!

Digital DJ no1

Had my first gig this saturday playing 100% from laptop via EKS soundcard and controllers.
Using the new Traktor Pro program it was a bit nervous but it worked out perfectly!
